JoyRide adds the 60th game to SIMPHYNITY

JoyRide's SIMPHYNITY software now allows our simulators to link to over 60 games.  JoyRide's ethos is to support popular new games soon after their commercial release.  Chris Jarram, the SIMPHYNITY product owner explains how this is done...

During the development of the Atomic motion simulator, we looked at the standard available software used for linking simulators to games.  Every modern computer game implements a physics engine which is required to reproduce lifelike vehicle or player movement within a 3D environment.

With the increasing number of new games appearing in the market place, and the ever increasing sophistication of those games, we wanted a software interface that would be straight forward to configure and allow us to link to new games as they appeared.  The available solutions weren't flexible enough to do this, so SIMPHYNITY was born.

Having a blank canvas had other advantages; We were able to build the software with an intuitive user interface, add in extensive configuration options such as varying speed modes and motion curves, and provide extended functionality such as relaxation modes.  In addition, it allowed us to incorporate our exclusive RideNet technology, allowing multiple devices to be connected via a single PC connection to all respond in the same way, with individual motion preference settings for each if desired.  Other accessories, such as our Tornado wind system, can also be attached via the RideNet network, allowing control of entire installations from a single user interface.  User settings are stored on a per-user/per-game basis, and when a supported game is detected they are automatically reloaded without the need for further intervention.

So we're very happy with the result - behind the scenes, an extensive process detection and injection mechanism which extracts the physics data from each game and allows us to link to a near limitless array of past and present games, quickly and efficiently.  And for the user, it's an easy to use game interface which provides automatic game selection and simple preference setting.  It really is a groundbreaking development in the field of motion simulation which, for the first time, truly opens up this exciting technology to the home gamer.
